JJ in Florida, you hit the nail in the head! It is easier to target one point and load the blame there, than look at all the reasons and perhaps discover that we all bear some responsibility also? Many of these postings refer to credit cards and their charges. When I do not like the terms/services I close my account, paid them off and take my business to some one else. But many cannot because they are over their head in debt. Instead of saving their money for (school, car, a good down payment on a home, remodeling, vacations, etc) they been using credit (cards or/and lines of credit). We want instant gratification, so we do not want to wait because we feel we are entitled to the "good life". If I cannot afford it now or within 2-3 paychecks, then I need to save for it! If I do not make enough, I took another job. If my job does not pay enough, then I went to night school to upgrade my skills & landed a better one! I am responsible for my life and what I make of it. No one put a gun to our head to apply and use that credit card or that line of credit and to keep using it when we know we can not really afford to go eat out, go to the movies, buy that piece of clothing. People go in to business for themselves TO MAKE A PROFIT and they have to balance the cost of providing the service/improving and growing their small business with charging their customers enough to cover all their business expenses and still be competitive so customers come to their shop and not their competitor's. If they charge too much they will have no customers. If they do not charge enough they will go under. What make people think that large corporations are any different? The difference is that instead of one owner or a partnership you have many people, companies, 401k, cities, counties, states, credit unions, retirement plans, etc, all of these investors that buy stocks TO MAKE A PROFIT from owing a small piece of the large corporation. That corporation is responsible to make sure their investors, you and me), makes a profit in the long run. If the corporation is not running a profitable company, then is your option to take your little bit of investment and invest in some other company that is running more efficiently and profitably-It is yours and my responsibility to look after our own interests!
Each of us as free individual have the choice and the responsibility of our own actions!
